The pre-industrial complex is easily reachable from the Bernina main road and is located at the south end of San
Carlo. The buildings host the mill, the blacksmith shop and the sawmill and are arranged along the mill race that branches off from the Poschiavino river 400 m uphill from the complex.
This complex is unique in Switzerland in that, to the best of our knowledge, there is no other location where a mill, a sawmill and a blacksmith shop are located in one place and are all operated by the same water. The buildings date back to the late Middle Ages and were completely restored from 1995 to 2005. They now show the state of the art of the 1930's, the time when the last modernization of the complex took part.
