Before the water reached the blades of the turbines it was used a first time at the washboard. Here, up until after World War II, the washerwomen washed their laundry with self-made soap obtained from cooked pig fat mixed with ash.
Even an old poschiavino song testifies about the ancient ritual of laundry ("lisiva" or "bügada"). |
